Why does my transfer case not shift out of 4HI?
I bought a new transfer case shift motor/actuator and installed it, but the truck still wouldn’t shift out of 4Hi. If you started the truck with the selector on 4Hi, the pictogram showed all 4 wheels engaged, but when you change the selector to 2wd the pictogram goes blank and the 4WD error light comes up.
How to turn shift shaft on transfer case?
When I went to put the encoder motor with the new sensor back on, the notch on the shaft didn’t match up with the gear on the motor (which I had marked with a Sharpie, and was where it was when I took it off).
Is the junkyard transfer case shift actuator bad?
From what I gleaned from the service representative, either the junkyard transfer case shift actuator/motor is bad, the wiring harness that goes from the relays to the shift actuator is bad, or the relays themselves are bad.
What should I do if my transfer case won’t move?
You could try a relearn. If I remember the dial will rotate to the right past 4lo. hold it there for 30 seconds or so and you will hear the transfer case cycle through all positions. It’s a long shot, but worth a try. The motor is usually the problem. If you could get the code the case is setting it would help.
Why is my transfer case shift motor not working?
At 335K miles and a 99 the motor is likely the culprit, but $120 would be worth getting the diagrams and validating the switch… Thx coolhand, i’ll do a search for esof switch diagram and see what i can find.
Can a transfer case be replaced on a jeep?
Not sure what they are programming it for though and only saw that a couple of times for older jeeps. Some people said they replaced just the Control unit, some just the motor, some both, some the entire transfer case.
Why is oil leaking from transfer case motor?
Background: had to swap out torque converter and when I unplugged bottom 2 wire connector on transfer case shift motor oil poured out. Hasn’t worked since. The fuses are good.
Are there any issues with the transfer case?
No indication of issues on dash. No issues accelerating or driving at speed. 4wd looks to shift through modes fine. Through research a lot of people have had the FDCM (final drive control module or Transfer Case Control Module) replaced at the dealer for this.
