Why does my Ford KA engine keep revving?
Why does my Ford KA engine keep revving?
As soon as I put load on the engine by letting the clutch up the revs start to behave, but if I keep the cutch depressed the engine continues to rev high but eventually dies away (after about 5-10 seconds). The car was doing this for a couple of hours and stopped but it has done it before. So the problem seems to be intermittent.
When does a Ford Ka over revve the clutch?
However, I was searching the internet for solutions to my girlfiends Ford Ka (July 1999) over-revving when the clutch is depressed and came across this link, which starts with a problem with exactly the same symptoms we are having.
What does the throttle posistion sensor do on a Ford Ka?
Throttle Posistion Sensor is duff or speed sensor is duff or both. One looks at the other to determin/adjust engine speed. If the throttle is closed and the duff speed sensor thinks its moving it raises the engine speed. Happened both on my Focus and GF’s fiesta.
When do you change the Multiplug on a Ford Ka?
Is it at idle – vehicle stationary (wheels not moving) or when driving during gear changes – if the latter it probably needs the three pin multiplug to the throttle plate sensor changing for the later level multiplug – available as a kit from a Ford dealer. Thanks for all your replies. Going to have a look this weekend at your suggestions.

Are there any problems with the Ford Ka?
If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check. See also: Ford Ka Owners’ Reviews. on 25. 07. 2019

This ECU is a common failure especially for the Ford Focus 1.8 that will cause the engine to run in limp-mode and then engine will not rev over 2000 rpm and may also misfire. Common fault codes are – P0607 & P2110…
Is it bad to Rev the engine when its Cold Bad?
From what I can gather, Fiat have made a peach of an engine and yes, its definitely bad form to rev one thats cold but I would bet you that Fiat themselves have tested the engine (as a type, not yours) by being far far rougher than any normal human being would ever do.
Why does my car rev up when I start the car?
Thank Kevin. Common causes of high RPM excursion at start-up are typically: large vacuum leak, throttle plate stuck open, cruise control stepper motor stuck in one position; faulty throttle position sensor, and/or faulty idle air control motor or solenoid.
