Mercedes maintains that the Mean Time To Failure, properly maintained, for a Sprinter (about %50 failures) is over 400K miles… I think that is not right for american market… perhaps it is the transmission that brings the numbers down as you propose. My transmission went bad 2 months ago, @270k.

About maintanance, a manual transmision would req. just a new clutch, depending on the driver also, so at the end,it is not a big deal to changa a clutch. Sprinters are not to be sold for US in my opinion, comparred to Ford or GM transmisioin, wich you drive 600K with same oil in the transmision.

Where can I get a Dodge Sprinter with no boost?
Update: Had a 2nd event of sudden loss of power / no boost on the I20 just west of Atlanta on a weekend trip with my Sprinter 3500 (2006) Winnebago View (2007). Aborted trip and limped back on my own power to dealer in Canton, GA that has Service Department working on Saturdays.

This was a major update including an all new frame, suspension, powertrains, interiors, and sheet metal. 2004 Dodge Ram transmission will not shift? I was riding at normal speed and something sounded like a pop, transmission down shifted to 3rd gear, just as if you had changed to tow mode. Rpms went up and trans would not shift, stayed in 3rd gear.

My 2006 Dodge Sprinter 3500 / 2007 Winnebago View has suffered its 2nd turbo resonator failure with ~2,200 miles between the 1st and 2nd failures. The first failure was shortly after I bought the vehicle last summer. The resonator was replaced with the manufacturer’s part Rev AB. That part failed last Saturday on the Interstate.

Check for all loose connections to air box, turbo, both ends of intercooler, and especially the turbo resonator (do not over-tighten). Double check for holes in the intercooler as well. Turbocharger Actuator On the modern diesel engine used in the Sprinter van, boost pressure is controller using a vane-system. The control valve for the vane system is electronically controlled and can fail. The turbocharger is still healthy, only the control valve has failed.
