Seems to be a VERY COMMON PROBLEM in the 2006 DODGE CHARGER. I was driving over to KC in Kansas, maybe a two hour drive and parked at a store, come out maybe twenty minutes later and the car won’t start at all. After many tries it finally does only to sound like its blending rocks.

What you have is the “Hemi Tick” As the engine ages you get more clearance from the piston skirts because the moly coat has worn off and you get a slapping noise. Also the high spring pressures from the heads also cause the ticking sounds.

I know this has been posted time after time, but I’m feeling frustrated that my brand new 2018 Ram is ticking. It doesn’t do it every time I start the engine, but when it does, it ticks for about 2 seconds, then the noise goes away. But once the engine warms up, I can hear a constant ticking noise from the engine.

It certainly isn’t loud by any means. Funny thing is, I had a 2008 Kawasaki ZX-6R for 7 years, bought brand new and put over 18k miles on it, and it had the “Kawi Tick” from day 1 and I never had an issue. If you do get the videos uploaded, and I could listen I could give you my .02.
