Why does my 2004 Ford XR6 not lock?
Hoping for some help….BA 2004 XR6 won’t lock/unlock doors – have tried to reprogram remote but doesn’t work. Also felt it may be the door actuator.

Put the first coded key into the ignition & turn to the ACC position (first position/click). Turn this key to the OFF position & remove the key. Within 5 seconds put the 2nd coded key into the ignition & turn this key to the ON position.
How much does it cost to replace a BA Falcon ignition barrel?
If the key doesnt spring back there is a small tab that breaks off for the spring return. A brand new steering column will cost just over $1000. A second hand one around $300 but may go the same way. With my mates bf they just replaced the barrel, is the bf that much different from the BA with the ignition barrel?

Its common for the black plastic plate with the contacts to fall off and lose some or all power to acc and ignition.

What to do if your ignition barrel is broken?
Most likely the back plate is either fallen out of part of the way out. It’s fiddly to get back in in the car but can be done, put the car sideways on a steep hill helps with the balls and springs, use grease as mentioned above. Hopefully it’s just that and a free fix if you’ve got a bit of talent. Take some weight off your keys in the future.
