Why do headlights turn on when the car is off?

Your lights must have been modified in order for this trouble to occur. Normally the light switch supplies a ground connection for the lights and the ignition switch supplies power to the relays which are also controlled by the light switch. Check to see if power is getting to the low beam lights even though they are off.

How do you turn off headlights at night?

I tried messing with the switch, and when the headlights turn on, it won’t even let you turn the lights off with the switch, after about 3 minutes it will let you turn them off. But after you go back inside for a few, they turn right back on. If it matters, I did get aftermarket light bulbs a couple months ago.

Why does my headlamp switch go back and forth?

Not long after that it didn’t matter what position the switch was in my lights would go back and fourth between off and on so fast my headlights looked like police wig wags on speed. I ended up replacing the headlamp switch and it solved my problem.

How often do the headlights come on and off?

This will be on and off every 2 to 5 seconds (sometimes more), but it is not consistent. Then at some point they will remain on. Sometimes the lights come on and stay on without flashing, and sometimes the lights stay off for a while, but then come on later.

Why does my headlight bulb keep blowing out?

When the installation is done in a hurry, the incorrect installation is likely to create problems for the bulb. The headlight lens need to be dry and free from dirt all the time. With the presence of moisture , it will eventually accumulate on the light bulb surface and blowing will occur.

Why my headlights keep burning out?

It is very possible that you may have a crack in your headlight, allowing moisture to get in and burn out your bulbs. Even the smallest of cracks can allow moisture in. If you do find a crack in your headlight, it may be possible to fix with some epoxy.

Why do headlights keep burning out?

Excessive vibration can break apart the delicate filaments inside the bulb. Headlights are designed to work with a specific voltage, so any electrical surges can fry them like a good piece of catfish. So all headlights burn out, but the 2010-12 Outback and Legacy fail at a much higher rate.

What caused my headlights to stop working?

Most total headlight failures are caused by a bad component like a fuse, relay, or module. Wiring problems can also cause both headlights to stop working. High beam headlights don’t work or low beams don’t work. If just one bulb fails to work in either high beam mode or low beam mode, it may be the bulb.
