Which is the best Cam for a 307?

Which is the best Cam for a 307?

In my research, the best pick for a built 307 is an XE262 cam. It was perfect. On a 10:1 307 with headers/mufflers and a 650cfm carb, Desktop Dyno said peak torque was around 400 at 5500rpm, with peak torque of 435 or so at 3500rpm.

What kind of engine does a Chevy 307 have?

A 307 is a 327 crank put into a 283 block. What you get is a poor bore-to-stroke ratio and relatively small displacement. You end up with the displacement of a smaller engine with the rev limits of a larger motor.

Is there a 307 head for a 305?

I assume the 1.84 heads your referring to are from a 305. I remember a build of a 305 that they used 307 heads because of the lack luster exhaust flow of the 305 heads. There used to be some killer 283’s in super stock that had to use the 581 head, so i’d say your heads are prolly near the capacity of those.

Which is better Chevy 302 or 327 block?

You end up with the displacement of a smaller engine with the rev limits of a larger motor. A better combination is the 283 crank in a 327 block. That combination gets you a 302, as found in 67-69 Camaros. There, you get the rev capabilites of the smaller motor with more displacement.

The engine was used in lower performance oriented family type cars and was equipped with a 2 barrel carburetor. After 1973 the 307 was chopped from the GM line engine lineup.

What kind of CARB do I need for a 307?

You could have them opened up for 1.94 valves as well and will work very well this way for your 307. The previously mentioned Crane cam will work good as well, but will have a pretty nasty idle.A Comp 268 works well in a 307. Also, all the engine needs is a Performer intake and a 500cfm carb.
