When does your car start to shake at high speed?

When does your car start to shake at high speed?

If there is something wrong with your car, chances are it will begin to shake before it reaches 60 miles-per-hour. You might not have noticed the vibration until the higher speed, however, because it increased with velocity. We here at University Auto Care want to caution you.

What makes the vibration start at 60 mph?

No, turning does not make vibration worse or better. Also, applying brakes does not make a difference (not a warped brake rotor disk problem). Vibration only starts at about 60 MPH and then gets worse as speed increases. Vibration is even visable (steering wheel shakes). Possible passenger side axle problem.

How often does the steering wheel shake while driving?

The shaking is very inconsistent, though. Sometimes it hits 65 before it shakes, but other times its barely 60. I just had my tires balanced, and the shaking isn’t consistent. It’ll shake for a second or two, then stop, then shake, then stop and so on.

Why does my car shake when I hit a pothole?

If you hit a pothole at high speed you could dent the rim and damage the tire. Another common cause of steering wheel vibration or car shake is having something lodged in a tire, like a large bolt, or any metal object you may have picked up from the road’s surface (I have seen even wrenches and screwdrivers impaling a tire).

What to do if your car shakes from 60 to 80 mph?

Car shakes from 60 to 80 mph, not tires, wheels or alignment 1 Replaced passenger side tie rod end 2 Alignment done 3 4 new tires, all balanced 4 Replaced front disc brakes and pads 5 New rattle clips 6 Greased up the caliper pins

What causes a car to shimmy at 178k miles?

Other than agreeing that struts can fail with no sign of leakage and that people become acclimated to a worn strut or shock problem, it could be that at 178k miles the car may have a loose tie rod, tie rod end, wheel bearing, etc. which is causing a shimmy.

What causes steering wheel to shimmy at 60 mph?

Initially, they told me it was due to the plastic-dip causing the tire to move on the rim. They marked both the tire and the rim. After 3 days the shake came back. The tire did not move on the rim. Every time I take it back the front tires are out of balance. Right now they have me on a different set of rims and tires.
