The red light on the dash comes on when you lock the door. Ok when yo ulock the door the light comes on now when you unlock the door with the remote it should disable the alarm also make sure all the doors are closed including the hood and trunk for it to work properly

The passive system is activated when the fob is greater than 6 feet from the bike. If the batteries are getting weak you may get in a situation where the bike will no longer start. Although most Harleys have security, the last I knew of, it is still an option.
