When they go out all heat and air conditioning go to the defroster. Ford tells me this a safety feature. So when it quits you will always has a defroster, the heat and air are only a comfort issue. Nice huh. They are $650.00 and are on back order by 1069 until July 2010, at which time there is supposed to be more than two thousand available.

It was the heater control. The guy who fixed mine the first time did it in the parking lot while I was in a meeting it took him less than 30 minutes. it worked fine for almost 2 years, It just went out again. looking for the part to fix it. read my other posts for more info on this.

What to do if your defroster does not work?
When the rear defroster does not work at all, small breaks in the horizontal grid can be eliminated as the problem. In this case, all of the horizontal defroster grid lines would need to be broken and it is very unlikely that this would happen without it being immediately obvious.
