What should I do if my John Deere tractor is running hot?

What should I do if my John Deere tractor is running hot?

Usually what I do is have the tractor running wide open and take a long blow gun and blow into the core and let the fan get rid of it. If you try to use a pressure washer without removing the radiator it is almost impossible to get it clean. if there is oil residue it makes it even harder. Thank you for your reply.

Where do you fill the radiator on a John Deere?

Also, how full are you filling the radiator? these older tractors do not have an overflow tank and if you fill them to the top when the tractor heats up and the fluid expands it will come out the overflow tube. the level needs to be half way between the top and the tubes. Usually puts it about 2 inches below the radiator cap.

Can a hot water pressure washer clean a John Deere radiator?

If there is oil residue this might not work and you would then have to remove the radiator to clean it. There have been many times when I have washed a radiator with my hot water pressure washer with the radiator out, and it is unbelievable how many times you have to go back and forth from front to back before it is finally clean.

Why are the cooling fins on my John Deere running hot?

It is easy for the cooling fins to get plugged externally. Dirt will get trapped in between the fins and the fan will not move any air through it. I know it is hard to do but if you can get a light on one side of the radiator you have to be able to look straight through.

Can a John Deere blow gun clean a radiator?

Yes to horizontally, and from the front. the air from the blow gun will loosen the dirt and blow it into the fan, then the fan will blow it back through. Usually you will get tons of dirt doing this and it will finally come clean. If there is oil residue this might not work and you would then have to remove the radiator to clean it.
