Dec 21, 2016 – We have a 2016 F150, 3 months old, with 6100 Kms on it. Engine is 2.7 EcoBoost, V6. Yesterday morning the truck would not start. The message displayed was “Engine Coolant Overtemperature”. This was first thing in the morning in a temperature below freezing (in Ontario Canada in the winter) and the truck had been parked all night.

Dec 27, 2016 – Dealer advised problem was a faulter coolant sensor. About a week to get the part in. Jan 10, 2016 – STILL no part and it’s going on 3 weeks since the problem arose. Dealer says all they know is the part is “somewhere in North America”, but they have no idea where or when they’ll receive it.
Why does the EcoBoost on my F150 overheat?
It was sitting in driveway idling with a/c off in 30 deg. Temp for ten minutes and the fans come on high and temp gauge starts going to hot, give it some gas and it cools down and fans go off. I run 93 octane all the time. Also the fans come on high when driving and shut off as soon as I start slowing down.

What should the coolant temperature of an engine be?
It depends on the ambient air temperature and whether or not the AC is being used. Once the thermostat opens the engine coolant temperature can run from 210-230 degrees.
What is ” normal ” coolant temp on a Ford Raptor?
I have the coolant temp enabled via forscan, 212 is pretty much where my truck sits with normal driving. just curious as to what “normal” for this truck is, and what kind of temps does everyone see in the summer or under heavy loads. I’m wondering the same thing.
