What kind of brake pads do BA Falcons use?
What kind of brake pads do BA Falcons use?
Falcons were notorious for brake shudder with warped rotors. From what I read when you replace the brake pads and brake rotors do not use Ford genuine parts – use DBA brand from memory. Warped rotors need to be machined. Use a torque wrench to do up the wheel nuts.
Why does my BA Falcon shudder when driving?
Hi there, I have a BA Falcon and recently it has developed two weird problems. This only really occurs on fast motorway driving. When applying the brakes on the Falcon at highway speeds, it sends a quite violent shudder through the steering wheel and brake pedal. It is not a persistent problem as it comes and goes every few minutes of driving.
Where is the brake booster located on a Ford Falcon?
The booster’s output pushrod that seats into the recess in the master cylinder varies in length. We found that this could be reused off the old booster if need be as this is not a wearing part. Thanks for the feedback Peter, all good info for the owner of the BA, Waynne Lee.
What causes a hard pedal on a Falcon?
Brake fluid is hygroscopic and water in you brake lines will cause soft pedal when the fluid becomes hot. A booster failure will tend to give you a hard pedal. Another thing is pad knock back where a disc with runout (wobble) will knock the pads away from the rotor resulting in a soft pedal for the first application.
Why does my BA Falcon stall while driving?

Is the handbrake on a Ford Falcons unroadworthy?
Most Ford Falcons and their derivatives are technically unroadworthy due to the sh*tty handbrakes. If the handbrake adjustment is done correctly as per the manual then handbrake will work perfectly for ever, life of the car etc. If you do the half arse shortcut approach you will be lucky to get three weeks before the handbrake is useless, again.
