The slip yoke is an important component of any drive shaft assembly. The slip yoke assembly (pictured on the right) is what allows drive shafts and PTOs to flex or “slip” with their given application. The slip yoke is also essential for allowing u-joints to rotate properly with the drive shaft.

Sometimes the get throwed away and some years do not have them. Only used for the driveshaft yokes that have the vent hole in them. A carry over from the good old days.

The rest is the reverse of removal. To help from ruining another O-ring, use a little tranny fluid on the outside of the yoke before sliding it back into the transmission. This will also help save the rear seal from damage. Home
