What is the difference between GAF StormGuard and GAF Weather Watch?
StormGuard is designed for use with metal and shingle roofs and features a film surface closer contact with smooth-surfaced materials like sheet metal. WeatherWatch features a granular surface that is designed for use on asphalt shingle roofs.

Does GAF require drip edge?
GAF requires non-corroding metal drip edges at the eaves where a Silver Pledge® or Golden Pledge® Limited Warranty is sought. As a matter of good roofing practice, however, GAF strongly recommends that drip edges be installed at the rakes and eaves on all GAF shingle roofs.
Is leak barrier necessary?
Applying leak barrier on the perimeter edge prevents water from soaking into the roof deck and helps to prevent ice damming. Leak barrier is required by building codes in most areas where the winter temperature is 25 degrees F or has the potential to freeze during the winter months.

How far should shingles hang over gutters?

Most shingle manufacturers recommend a 1/4 to 3/8 inch overhang over your eave, which is where your roof ends by your gutter. In many cases, and particularly as home ages and settles, the roof edge at the eave edge can wave in and out by more than this amount.
How far should shingles extend past drip edge?

Shingles should not extend more than 3/4” (19 mm) past the drip edge. If shingles overhang the edge of the roof by more than 3/4” (19 mm), then they are not supported and may crack and break off.
