Basically there is no problem in running tires without the tire pressure sensors other than, as you point out, the warning light showing at all times. Obviously, when a tire is removed from the rim, there is no pressure, which means the TPMS has to be reset when the new or different tire is installed.

nope you can’t disable it. not even GM can. Put sensors in spare tire? Then just dont use it put whatever rims you want on. I have a 2007 NNBS GMC Sierra and i put a different set of wheels and tires on it. They dont have the TPMS in them and i dont really feel like spending the bucks to swap them out of my old wheels and tires.

I do not think you can, and the dealer certainly will not do it for you. The way I understand it, they are required by law on any 2008 or newer vehicle, that weighs less than 10,000 GVW. Expect to see lots of error messages and if you have OnStar, you will get many more. It may be worth putting the TPMS in.

On my ’07 I never put sensors in my summer wheels and the remote start always worked. Just by pulling out the light wont clear the code…all it would do is make the light not show up.
