Mine is truly kicking the traction control on and slowing down the vehicle. Mine has only happened from a complete stop and during a left and right hand turns. Very dangerous situation if you are expecting your vehicle to GO when you push on the gas and it just launches you out into traffic and almost stops.

What’s the OBD code on my Ford Freestyle?
The OBD code I got from the vehicle was C1165 Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Circuit Failure, so same wheel as Airlinepilot’s T-Rex. Will be working on the vehicle tomorrow in the driveway so will look into where the problem is originating from (if it’s truly the speed sensor or just corrosion on the wires).
What to do when your traction control warning light comes on?
If a fluke in the TCS system triggered the warning light, it should turn stay off when you restart the engine. If it comes back on, it’s likely time to call a mechanic and get a system diagnosis. Until it’s fixed, drive gently and avoid hard acceleration that could result in the wheels slipping.
