What does automatic 4WD mean?
Automatic 4WD is a full-time system that lets the vehicle operate in 2WD (either front or rear) until the system judges that 4WD or AWD is needed. It then automatically routes power to all four wheels, varying the ratio between front and rear axles as necessary. Usually, a slipping wheel activates the system.
Why is my 4 wheel drive shifter loose?
Once you arrived home safely or the road conditions improve, you will need to disengage 4H mode and place it back in 2H to prevent drivetrain binding. The drivetrain binding effect is caused by driving on a high traction surface while 4H is engaged. In this instance, if you desperately need to engage 2H mode you will need a quick fix.

Is the truck automatically engaging in auto 4WD from 2WD?

How can I switch my truck from neutral to 4WD?
The one on the dash. try taking the tranfer case motor out cleaning the plugs and putting it back in also! Ok is it hard to take the transfer case motor out? When your truck does that, can you switch it out of neutral and/or auto?
