While pressing the window switch, open and slam the car door. This may jar the motor and get it to bump into the next contact in the armature.

Why does my power window not move up or down?

1) Bad Window Regulators The mechanism that allows a power window to move up and down is called a window regulator. Each car door with a power window has a window regulator to move it. If the regulator goes bad, then pushing the up or down button will not make the window move.

When you unscrew them, be sure to hold the window so that it won’t accidentally fall off the regulator mechanism’s ledge (this is an extra precaution). Move the window up: While holding the window in place with one hand below, grab the top of the window and pull it up as high as you can.

How does a power window switch work in a car?

The power window switch is a polarity reversal device that delivers power and ground to the center common terminals. When the switch is operated in one direction, power and ground feed the motor one way, and when the switch is operated in the other direction, the polarity to the motor is reversed.
