Following are the four types of the stub axle: Elliot. Reverse Elliot. Lamoine. Reversed Lamoine. The Elliot stub axle is attached to the front axle by placing in the yoke end with a kingpin and cotter to join the two together. In Reversed Elliot type stub axle, the arrangement is reversed.
Can a CV axle be removed from a stub shaft?
Assuming that you can remove the CV axle, and the stub shaft stays attached to the axle (it has the two times I’ve done it on my car), then you shouldn’t need any special tools to remove and replace the large main seal that is pressed into the case.
