No the service 4×4 light is not on. The chec engien light is. And the light for the switch to change to 4lo 4hi isnt on either. I had [2] of the switches on the dash fail within the first 2,000 miles on my 2006, since then none have failed. The lights on mine would blink but it would not lock into 4 wheel drive.
What are the lights on a 4 wheel drive Chevy?
The lights will correspond to the “2” and up-arrow position for two-wheel-drive high, “4” and down-arrow for four-wheel drive low, and so on. Wait for flashing lights to stop before shifting the knob. Don’t shift the knob too frequently if the transfer case enters shift protection mode.
Why are there no lights on the selector switch?
I know this is an old thread but still very informational. On a 99 silverado 5.3 the switch lights would not come on also it was stuck in 2wd.l I replaced the actuator on the transfer case, checked the 4wd fuse in the cab, replaced the switch and the TCCM. Still no lights and no 4wd.

2006 silverado 1500. 4×4 would not engage on mine. I would receive service 4wd message on dash and 4wd switch would change light locations randomly. Changed swich and it did not fix the problem.
