What’s the difference between a Chevy 2500 and Chevy 2500HD?

So in a truck with a 6.0 gas the HD will be 2 inch taller and have a full-float rear end and the reg. 2500 has the semi-float, did i get that right? I’m assuming the semi-float is plenty strong, i know the 1500’s have soume trouble with the gov. lock unit in the rear end, is that a problem in the 2500’s?
