How does a dual tank selector valve work?

One wire goes to the selector valve. The valve grounds through the body. When the solenoid is energized it sends/recieves fuel to one tank and when de-energized it sends/recieves fuel to the other tank. The sending unit wires goto the switch and then to the fuel guage. Like this:

Is the Silverado 350 4 speed dual tank?

It’d be wonderful to use the dual tanks as the 350 4 speed gets I think about 10 at best. Family is not an important thing. It’s everything. I have the 87 Silverado also. If you remember, there was a recall/ on the dual tank models due to safety issues with exploding or burning “side saddle” dual tanks.

I dropped both fuel tanks yesterday and removed all the hoses to measure (roughly 9 feet for both) so I am halfway there. 1976 Chevy 454 big block with factory dual fuel tanks. Has anyone ever replaced the OEM selector valve with one of those Pollak 6 port universal valves sold at autopart stores?

How does the gas tank selector switch work?

When the level in the front tank drops, it sends a signal via a fuel pump relay to trigger the rear fuel pump to send fuel to the front tank. And supposedly the only way to really get into the diagnostics is with a newer model full blown scan tool.
