How do you use D-ITG?
Using D-ITG
- Open a console, enter the folder containing the D-ITG binaries, and run the ITGRecv component: $ ./ITGRecv.
- Open a second console and, from the same folder, run the ITGSend component: $ ./ITGSend -T UDP -a 127.0.0.1 -c 100 -C 10 -t 15000 \ -l sender.log -x receiver.log.
What is d-ITG?
D-ITG (Distributed Internet Traffic Generator) is a platform capable to produce traffic at packet level accurately replicating appropriate stochastic processes for both IDT (Inter Departure Time) and PS (Packet Size) random variables (exponential, uniform, cauchy, normal, pareto.).
Is there an issue with D-ITG 2.8.1?
If anyone is still using older versions of D-ITG for any reason (lower than 2.8.1), the solution would be disabling IPv6 on both ends: D-ITG 2.8.1 (r66M) does not have this issue. UPDATE: Version 2.8.1 does have issues running the following scenario (works fine on 2.8.0):
Is the D-ITG distributed Internet traffic generator innovative?
Its features are first described. We believe that some capabilities are in fact innovative, since no other traffic generator offers them. Then, we describe the original architecture of D-ITG, which allows our traffic generator to achieve high performance.
Who are the authors of the D ITG manual?

How to measure one way delay ( OWD ) in D ITG?
D-ITG does not provide any sort of synchronization among senders and receivers. In order to correctly measure packet One Way Delay (OWD), the clocks of sender and receiver must be syn- chronized by other means. Otherwise, we suggest to use the Round Trip Time (RTT) meter; –a destination address Set the destination address.
