How do you hook up a license plate light on a trailer?
You can wire a license plate light like part # LPL55CB without running wiring up to the front of the trailer. You simply attach the white wire with the ring terminal to a clean, bare metal surface like the trailer frame, and then attach the black wire to the running light wire that leads to the tail light.

I cant believe no one can help sorry for bringing this post back to life but this is funny, im having the same problem my running lights, license plate lights are not working. hope you got this all figured out and i cant believe nobody chimed in on this. lol The only real possible solution is a short in the wiring somewhere.

What to do when your tail lights don’t work?
There is also a definitive test to make sure it is the fuse box involving jumpering the park lamp relay. When jumpered, if all the lights work it’s 100?% sure it’s a screwed fuse box. There are also “work arounds” to either temporarily repair the fault or, fix it with some soldering on the pcb in the fuse box.
