How do you get a torsion bar out of a truck?
I had to UN bolt and lift the crossmember and beat on the key hitting it toward rear of the truck. The torsion bar is still stuck in place though. Should I be trying to hit the torsion bar forward or backwards or doesn’t fit in the a-arm from either end?
Can a levelling kit remove the torsion bars?
Ive been reading all of the threads about levelling kits and today I figured I’d install mine. Everything went well as far as removing the bolts and keepers from the old keys but no matter how much beating, the torsion bars wont budge.
What’s the difference between old and New Silverados torsion bars?
Laying the old key on top of the new they almost look identcal though.They’re the same where the bolt hits, the only difference is the new one is slightly bigger in that second inner detention. I did also install some bilstein 5100 to the rear and will be putting new 5100‘s on the front tomorrow.

Everything went well as far as removing the bolts and keepers from the old keys but no matter how much beating, the torsion bars wont budge. They should be able to slide forward or backward, right? (inside the a-arm) Do they need to be twisted a bit, like with a pipe wrench?
