Does ABS shorten stopping distance?
Does ABS shorten stopping distance?
ABS lets you maintain vehicle stability and directional control, and may reduce stopping distances during hard braking — particularly on wet and icy roads.
When does the ABS activate at low speeds?
Make and Model > Chevrolet > Astro Van > ABS Activates at low speeds… GM has issued a service bulletin #02-05-25-006B to address a condition where the ABS activates at low speeds, usually less than 5-mph) even though the vehicle is not in a skid condition. The ABS activates at low speeds bulletin applies to the following vehicles:
What to do when ABS kicks in when almost at complete stop?
Put a piece of paper towel in the hole and use some emery cloth to remove the corrosion on the mounting pad. Just a millimeter of corrosion will hold the reader far enough away from the sensor to cause low speed activation. Put some grease on the mounting pad and tighten the reader back to the hub. Problem solved.
Why does my ABS pump run non stop?
The ABS pump is not having the typical issue where it runs non-stop, but it kicks in for no reason. Swhitney is right. The problem is called “unintended low speed ABS activation”. There was a recall for trucks in the “rust belt”.
Why are my abs cutting in at low speed?
According to the capture, our problem is only in one area of the rotor, and these shiny spots correlated well with the recorded capture, but a distance problem between sensor and tooth isn’t the problem here. The shape of the teeth has already been covered and eliminated; it was the make-up of the shiny spots that was now in question.

Is the pulsing brake pedal necessarily an ABS issue?
Then the ABS light turns on and brakes work normally for the rest of the time. It is not easy to reproduce this issue. On average it happens once every two days. Is the pulsing brake pedal necessarily an ABS issue?

What to do if your ABS sensor is distorted?
Check the sensor for flatness in multiple (minimum 3) positions/directions. If the sensor head is distorted, replace the sensor. Apply (spray) two thin coats of the specified rust penetrating lubricant (corrosion inhibitor) to the complete sensor mounting surface on the bearing hub. Allow to dry for 3-5 minutes between coats.
