CAN bus cable length vs speed?
The electrical characteristics of the CAN bus cable restrict the cable length according to the selected bit rate. You can use cabling up to 250 meters with the baud rate of 250 kbit/s. The maximum bus length with a bit rate of 10 kbit/s is 1 km, and the shortest with 1 Mbit/s is 40 meters.
CAN bus speed?
1 Mbit/second
The maximum speed of a CAN bus, according to the standard, is 1 Mbit/second. Some CAN controllers will nevertheless handle higher speeds than 1Mbit/s and may be considered for special applications. Low-speed CAN (ISO 11898-3, see above) can go up to 125 kbit/s.
What are the converters and repeaters for CANopen?
Converters and repeaters for CANopen convert copper interfaces to fiber optics, amplify signals, and create segments. Surge protective devices for the CANopen communication protocol.
What are the features of a CANopen network?
One of the distinguishing features of CANopen is its support for data exchange at the supervisory control level, as well as accommodating the integration of very small sensors and actuators on the same physical network.
What’s the maximum length of a can cable?
The maximum CAN cable length (considering cable and transceiver propagation delay) An interesting discussion from the CANLIST: ‘mb’ Moshe Barazani: According to the DS303-1 and the Bosch protocol and ISO 11898, the 1Mbit should be supported for bus length of 30meters. Practically we could reach not more than 10meters.
What kind of bus coupler do I need for CANopen?
Modular bus couplers and block I/O devices with IP20 or IP65/IP67 protection for connecting the I/O level and CANopen network. CANopenĀ® cables and connectors in various lengths and with different degrees of protection, pre-assembled or sold by the meter.
