Can a motor run, but not under load?
Can a motor run, but not under load?
So a motor with a faulty or open circuit switch will not start even under no load, just hums but will go if give shaft a spin (in either direction). however the pulleys, belts and drive shaft couplings you describe sound like much higher than this. Would you be able to post a picture?
What should I do if my engine won’t start?
Check the fuel filter service interval in your car owner’s manual or repair manual. If the fuel system uses an in-line filter: Remove the filter. Blow through the filter in the direction of fuel flow. If air goes through with difficulty, or not at all, there’s your problem When necessary, use a fuel pressure gauge to check system pressure.
What’s the best way to start a new car?
Play with the cabin controls before leaving the car lot. Sit in your new vehicle for 15-20 minutes and take stock of your new environment. Practice turning on the radio, putting on your hazard lights, adjusting the wiper speed, turning on the air conditioner, and so on.
How can I get a new engine to start?
You can also modify an old distributor that fits your engine. Grind the teeth off the gear or remove it and remove the stuff on the top leaving the shaft sticking out enough to get a drill on. Use a big drill, preferably half inch. You don’t have to spin it fast. You have to spin it in the same direction the distributor spins.
How can I make my electric motor run again?
Use the Ohmmeter to check for breaks in both windings. The resistance on each winding will be relatively low, but the starting winding will show a little higher resistance. If one of the windings shows an open circuit, look closely at where the wires attach to a terminal or to a heavier wire.
Do you Prime your engine before you start it?
You will want to to make sure you prime your oil system right before you start your engine. This is one of the biggest savers of engines if your engine is capable of doing it. A few oil pumps operate differently, and doing it is not practical.
Is there a way to make an electric motor run backwards?
Remove cover or inspection plate to access the input power wires. Reverse any one of these leads: T1 to T2, or T1 to T3, or T2 to T3. Reverse only one of these leads. Tighten the leads and terminals. Reinstall the cover or inspection cover. Remove tags and reapply power to the motor circuit. Ensure the motor is rotating in the desired direction.
