Can a Ford F-150 start in cold weather?

When it is cold, my F-150 will not start unless we press on the gas. And we must hold idle is then working. Also it will not idle high enough to try to drive it.

I have an 89 f 250 mine wont restart when hot. I can move the distributer and it will start again. So weird. When its hot it sounds like the battery is dead and wont turn over till I retard the timing. 83 people found this helpful.

Vapor lock wouldn’t cause a slow starting speed either. Chances are good that It is a bad starter. 60 people found this helpful. Will the vehicle keep running once started? Or does it kill on the road then only restart after it cools?

In the worst case, when you try to start the engine, you only hear a click, triggered by the magnetic switch on the starter. If the battery is depleted, the only solution is to jump start by a donor battery, or recharging the battery with a charger or replacement of the old with a new battery.
