They are both made by Howa. Almost the same rifle. Weatherby has a different bolt and usually has a longer barrel. They both have the same action, so they’re the same there but idk much else about the Howa.
Is Howa better than Weatherby?
Have had both in the same caliber, and they are nearly identical other than the fit/finish. The weatherby takes the win in that category, but being pretty don’t make it shoot any better. Like said above, not much difference. I’ve had 3 Howa’s and still have a heavy barreled 223.

Is the action on the vanguard accuguard good?
Accuguard is a little heavy but manageable. The action on this gun is not as smooth as I like but with time I believe it will get better. Finally, I don’t like the 2 stage trigger.
Is the vanguard S2 a good hunting rifle?
The S2 is a significant improvement over the older models. They are extremely accurate rifles right out of the box, and the fit and finish is great. I gave it high marks based on its price range. It is not a custom gun, so don’t expect the moon and the stars. But, in the “basic hunting rifle” category it excels.
