Are there hydraulic problems on my 1440 combine?

My 1420 had an issue where a port stripped the threads or something and the header would continually raise itself, there was a service bulletin on it that the tech found after a couple trips down to get her going. Mine is electric over hydraulic, hydraulics can be a bummer to troubleshoot.

Why does my IHC 1440 combine stop working?

I have an IHC 1440 combine. I was using it and all of a sudden the unloading auger swing and the reel lift stopped working. I changed the filter which did not help. I then took a hydraulic pump off of a salvage combine along with the valve stack which had the valve port in it.

How does hydrostatic transmission work on a combine?

Another technology that is sometimes used on combines is a continuously variable Hydrostatic transmission. This allows the ground speed of the machine to be varied while maintaining a constant engine and threshing speed.

When is a hydrostatic drive used in a hydraulic system?

Hydrostatic drives are used in a variety of applications throughout all types of industries. They are sometimes referred to as hydrostatic transmissions. Anytime one or more hydraulic motors need to be driven at variable speeds with bi-directional capability, a hydrostatic drive is often used.

What kind of pump does an IH 1480 use?

As far as individual specs., I’ll try to list them. 1480- From 1978-1980 they used a DT-436 at 190HP, from 1981-1985 they had a DT-466 at 210HP. 1983-on models used a Bosch inline injection pump instead of the rotary pump used previously. The grain tank held 208 bushels.

When did the IH 1420 60-80 come out?

The 1440-60-80 models were built all during these years, while the 1420 appeared in 1980 or so. As far as propulsion, they all used a 3-speed transmission coupled with hydrostatic drive. Now the 1460 and 80 used the same 3-speed gearbox, while the 20s and 40s used their own 3-speed.
