26 people found this helpful. yes the transmission from a 2500 will fit, the 97 1500’s and 2500 w/5.9 v8 came with a 46RE which has a lighter duty torque converter, and different bands. the 2500 prolly has a different transfer case though. 36 people found this helpful. 47RE’s are V10/Cummins I6 specific and will not fit.
