Why is the side door on my Ford Focus not opening?

The door handle on my drivers side does not open from the outside. The handle has no tension in it whatsoever. When using the handle on the inside there is no issue at all.

Though that is just a temp fix, it will return at the most inopportune time. If you need to get in, just push in on the door a little and pull the handle at the same time. Should open right up then.

A new switch shouldn’t be too expensive from Ford, but I would try locating one from a salvage yard. Check the dealership price first.

Press the window down switch and the window should go down. With the window DOWN jumper from pin 5 to pin 1. Press the window up switch and the window should go up. If all works OK then the issue is 100 percent in the one touch relay.

The windows and the locks are on two separate circuits. The only part that these two have in common is the master switch. Of course it is also possible that the wiring harness between the driver side door and cowl is corroded and that some of the pins are to corroded or even broken off and do not make contact.
