The drivers door open sensor was broken out of the dash below the fuse panel and I pulled the broken assembly out and got interior lights… and the lights on my 4×4 selector came on for a minute and went back off.

Why are the 4×4 buttons not lit up?

Well fuses are good, checked #15 and #36 — the wires to the 4×4 buttons are getting power. Pushed around on the module below the seat and that made the orange neutral light flicker for a second then out. Made sure it was grounded and won’t flicker again. Side note the letters on the buttons light up, just not the orange lights.
