Why is my rear hatch lock not working?
If the latch is all the way across, the release button on the tail gate should have no problem releasing the latch regardless of if it is closed to the bottom tail gate or not. It is unfortunate that the wireless system is not working, as that would be critical to diagnosing this further without the need for any special tools.
