Why does RPM suddenly drop?

Why does RPM suddenly drop?

The engine RPM drop when changing gears is often caused by a failed throttle position sensor (TPS). When in use, the cone of the TPS accumulates soot that prevents the correct rod movement. If a TPS works abnormally, the air-fuel mixture will not meet the requirements.

Is high RPM bad for AC?

What high rpm will do to a compressor is cause low suction pressure. Likely the system will run in a Vac. or negative pressure. This is what kills compressors. They will push the oil out via the discharge and pull in air and moisture through the shaft seal.

When does RPM drop when a / C compressor engages?

The rpm drop only occurs when any A/C component is on (A/C, defroster, or re-circulation), when just the vent is on, the rpm does not drop and the engine run fines. Please help me with this question, it seems like this is not a one of a kind problem.

When does the a / C compressor engage, the engine stalls?

When the A/C compressor engages at idle in park or neutral every five to ten seconds the idle drops and will either almost stall the engine or occasionally does stall the engine. This happens in drive as well, and when driving, since the rpm’s drop and come back up, the vehicle surges at low speeds.

When does the a / C compressor engage at idle?

Here is where the problem started: that night after changing my battery, I went to use the defroster. When the A/C compressor engages at idle in park or neutral every five to ten seconds the idle drops and will either almost stall the engine or occasionally does stall the engine.

What happens when the AC compressor and clutch engage?

In most cases, when the AC compressor and clutch engage, it will draw extra ’power’ from the engine and cause the idle to slightly drop. However, this can cause existing issues to be amplified.

Why is my air conditioner compressor cycling on and off?

The air conditioner compressor was rapidly cycling on and off. I turned the A/C off and stopped putting R-134a into it becuase the compressor cycling was almost causing the car to die from the load it was putting on the engine. Onto Google I went.
