Why does my temp gauge go up and down?
Why does my temp gauge go up and down?
I now notice my temp gauge is acting funny. The truck was at normal running temp. I turn on the key, the temp gauge goes up to about 200 where it should and then after maybe 5 seconds it goes back down to 160 and never moves. Is there any connection between the dead battery and the gauge?
What do you mean by Lite pressure springs?
The term “Lite Pressure™” refers to the design performance of these springs, generally used where relatively low forces are required for a given diameter.
What should the temp be on my GM Truck?
If I turn the key but not start the truck the gauge goes up to probably 180 now that it is cooler and will sit there just fine. When I start the truck, the needles all sweep to the left and go back. Temp goes back to 180 for a few seconds. About the time the flashing airbag light goes off, the gauge goes back down to 160.
Why is my temp sensor not working properly?
To the Site Jeff…..It could be the Connection at the Temp Sensor, if the Temp Sensor and/or the Connection checks out Not to be problem…….then the Problem could and/or may be with the Stepper Motor for the Temp Gauge is going Out/Bad……which is a Common problem on these Trucks/SUV’s.

Where is the outside temp sensor on a Chevy Tahoe?
Discussion in ‘ Audio & Electronics ‘ started by gooffeyguy, Sep 19, 2019 . The outside temp sensor reads a bit higher than it actually is outside. I can understand a couple degree difference since it is located near the radiator, but sometimes mines off 5-6 degrees (reads 98/99 when it’s actually 93 out).

How does the temp gauge on a Silverado work?
The temp. gauge fluctuates constantly between normal and 210^ in cool weather (40^ & below). Also during accleration it will rise to 210^ and drop back down, never staying at a constant temp. It constantly moves between normal and 210^, exempt during summer time it stays steady. I replaced the t-stat 3 times, having no affect.
When does the needle go to the middle of the gauge?
If the needle goes to about the middle of the gauge, that means the engine has reached normal operating temperature, usually between 180 an 210°F. It goes up quickly after starting, then stabilizes. This is normal.
