The first and most common is when it won’t turn over. This just means that the engine doesn’t move when you turn the key. The second way that your Mondeo won’t start is when the engine turns when you engage the starter, but it won’t fire and run on its own.
Why is my Ford Mondeo engine spinning over?
If not then I would guess the battery is faulty. If the engine is spinning over then it may be an alternator problem. On the Mondeo the alternator is controlled through the ECU so an alternator fault would put the management light on. Of course I haven’t seen the car but this is my best guess. Could be a starter motor.

The revised flap has an extra 1mm of material to ensure spring contact.
