What should def quality be?
The ideal, or target reading is 32.5%. If under, more DEF con- centration is needed. If the concentration level is incorrect, either the DEF was of low quality or the tank has become contaminated. The DEF tank should be drained and refilled, only with a known high quality DEF.
What is a safe EGT for a 6.7 Cummins?
The max for shot bursts is around 1600*, max sustained EGT is about 1250*. As far as boost I am not too familiar with the VGT on the 6.7 but I would say high 30s to low 40s.
What causes high exhaust temperatures in diesel engines?
MAN Diesel & Turbo Fouling of the turbine side of the turbocharger is a common cause for high exhaust gas temperatures. The sequence of events is often as follows: → Fouling of turbine (coke deposit) → Bad turbocharger performance → Lower airflow and charge air pressure → Higher exhaust gas temperatures.

How to fix a Cummins SCR system failure?
(See Pic) Clean the decomposition tube with hot water if necessary, and clean the DEF injector with a wet rag. Run the SCR Performance or SCR System Tests to get it out of derate. The hole on this recent one was clean when I removed the injector to run the dosing measurement test. I ran the SCR test twice and it failed both times.
