I know there are a lot of lifter tick topics all over this forum, and all over the internet, but I want to start a new one for my situation. Here we go.. 2009 Chevy Silverado, 1500, Crew Cab, LTZ, 85k. I purchased 3-4 years ago w/ 42k on it. Changed oil every 3k.

The lifter is designed with a drain/fill hole that allows the lifter to float or fall based on oil pressure. An old trick is to run a thicker engine oil, which remains in the lifter longer after the engine is shut off. This is not advised in newer 5.3-liter V-8s, however, which specify 5w-30 oil.
