Hey all, just picked up a Big Tex 22gn 35+5 trailer. My truck is a 2012 3500 Lonestar and it has the integrated brake controller. Last night before I picked up the trailer it started showing “CF” with a trailer and exclamation point.
Why are my brakes not working on my Dodge Ram?
Try the truck on another trailer with brakes to see if it is the truck. Check the trailer break away switch (if equiped), those can fail not allowing the brake signal to get to the trailer brakes. Also check the trailer brakes, you can verify the break away battery has a good charge and keep the break away switch pulled.

I’ve had the trailers brakes examined they’re fine; wiring checked and no shorts/grounds detected. Dealer says the controller checks out fine.

What to do if your Dodge Ram has brake problems?
Not a Ram but I had a Chevy with an integrated brake controller that would occasionally flash a “service trailer brake” message. Fix was to take apart the 7 pin plug, clean all the trash out of it, and then lube with dialectic grease. The Chevy was about the same age as your Ram was and the 7 pin was pretty nasty inside.
