What does a basic tune up consist of?
Generally, a tune-up consists of checking the engine for parts that need cleaning, fixing, or replacing. Common areas under inspection include filters, spark plugs, belts and hoses, car fluids, rotors, and distributor caps. Many of these only require a visual inspection or a simple test.
How is the fuel line attached to the fuel filter?
Fasten the fuel filter to the fuel line. Slide the fuel lines onto the front and back of the filter the same way they were attached to the old one. With the fuel line in place on the filter, slide the plastic clips through the holes on the fuel line nozzle to secure the line in place on the fuel filter.
How do you replace the fuel filter clips?
Locate the clips on either side of the cylindrical fuel filter, then use a flat head screwdriver to pop them out of the holes they are in. These clips may break as you remove them, so purchasing replacement clips along with your fuel filter is advised.
What to do if your fuel filter does not match?
If the fuel filters do not match, you will need to return the new one for the correct replacement filter. Do not attempt to use a fuel filter for a different application in your vehicle, as it may not be capable of allowing the appropriate volume of fuel to pass through it. Slide the new fuel filter into the bracket.
Where is the fuel filter on a Quadra Jet?
This car has a quadra jet carb from the factory and the fuel filter can be found by locating the fuel line going into the carb. Remove the fuel line, and there is a larger hex nut on the carb the line went in. Simply remove the nut and the filter is right inside the carb. Thanks!
