What is the fuel shutoff solenoid on a Cummins?
What is the fuel shutoff solenoid on a Cummins?
Check the starter solenoid (+) terminal for a loose connector or accessory wiring with damaged insulation. The fuel shutoff solenoid is a device used by the ECM to control the engine fuel supply. The ECM can shut down the engine by cutting off the power to the fuel shutoff solenoid.
Can a fuel shutoff valve be pulled down?
If there is an external shutdown system on the vehicle that uses the fuel shutoff valve for engine shutdown, make sure it has notfailed and pulled down the voltage on the fuel shutoff circuit. Inspect the engine block to chassis ground wire to make sure it is securely fastened to a clean, dry, conductive surface.
Where is the fuel shut off solenoid on a VP44?
No fuel shut off solenoid on the VP$$, the VP$$ has a relay (called Fuel Pump) in the power center under the hood. I believe that the power to closed that relay coms from the ECM, just like the power for the Lift Pump.
How does Kyle no fuel shut off solenoid?
Thanks, Kyle No fuel shut off solenoid on the VP$$, the VP$$ has a relay (called Fuel Pump) in the power center under the hood. I believe that the power to closed that relay coms from the ECM, just like the power for the Lift Pump. There are several with the same part number and are interchangeable.
How does the fuel shut down solenoid work?
I thought I would start this thread regarding testing these components when troubleshooting. The fuel shut down solenoid turns the fuel on and off. It contains 2 coils which are powered separately; the pull coil and the hold coil. The pull coil is energized thru the fuel shut down relay.
Where is the fuel shut down relay located?
The pull coil is energized thru the fuel shut down relay. The hold coil is energized, by a separate circuit, thru fuse #9 in the fuse box by the drivers door. In order to show the pins, I had to take the picture using a mirror so the pin numbers appear in reverse.
