What is Ain grade3?
What is Ain grade3?
AIN grade III ASCUS: Atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance; LSIL: Low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion; HSIL: High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion; AIN: Anal intraepithelial neoplasia.
What is high grade AIN?
High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL/AIN-2/3). The high-grade lesion exhibits more severe atypia in the lower two-thirds or through the full thickness of the epithelium. There is loss of maturation, and nucleus-to-cytoplasm ratio is decreased.
How do you treat Ain?
Topical treatments such as Imiquimod, Cidofovir and 5-Fluorouracil and ablative treatments such as electrocautery, laser therapy and radiofrequency ablation can all be used to treat AIN. People diagnosed with HPV associated AIN may also be considered for vaccination against multiple strains of HPV.
What does ain3 mean?
AIN 1 means the abnormal cells are in the lower one third of the skin covering the anus. AIN 2 means the abnormal cells are in the lower two thirds of the skin. AIN 3 means the abnormal cells are in the full thickness of the skin of the anus.
What does Ain look like?
Doctors describe AIN as either low grade or high grade, depending on how the cells look under the microscope. Low-grade AIN cells look much like normal cells and will often return to normal on their own. High-grade AIN cells look very abnormal under the microscope and usually don’t return to normal.
What are the symptoms of Ain?
Patients with AIN typically present with nonspecific symptoms of acute renal failure, including oliguria, malaise, anorexia, or nausea and vomiting, with acute or subacute onset.
What causes AIN?
The most frequent causes of AIN can be found in one of three general categories: drug-induced, infection-associated, and cases associated with immune or neoplastic disorders (Table 12–4). Other causes of tubulointerstitial nephropathy also are addressed.

Is AIN3 curable?
Most cases of AIN2 and AIN3 stay the way they are (sometimes for decades) or go away on their own. However, if an individual does not regularly visit a doctor regarding their AIN to be monitored and/or treated, there is the risk that they might develop into cancer.
Can AIN be cured?
When AIN is caused by a drug allergy, the only treatment needed may be drug removal. Other cases of AIN can be treated with anti-inflammatory medications. Quick treatment often leads to a full recovery.

Can a ain2 or ain3 turn into cancer?
There is no completely accurate way of determining whether someone’s AIN2 or AIN3 will turn into cancer, or how long this will take. Careful and frequent screening and monitoring is therefore recommended. AIN2 and AIN3 are most commonly caused by HPV types 16 and 18.
What does Ain stand for in medical terms?
Anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN) Anal intraepithelial neoplasia means there are abnormal cells in the lining of your anus. A pathologist looks at your cells under a microscope to check whether your anal cells look different to normal anal cells.
What is the role of radiotherapy in Ain 3?
Radiotherapy has no role for AIN 3. Its only role is for confirmed anal cancer. All high risk patients with AIN3 should have an annual digital rectal examination (DRE) to allow early detection of anal cancer. Fleshner PR, Chalasani S, Chang GJ, et al. Practice parameters for anal squamous neoplasms.
How many Ain 1 patients progressed to cancer?
Not one of 17 patients with AIN 1 progressed to cancer during the follow-up period. Twenty-five patients downgraded their lesions. The authors suggest that since 13% of their AIN 3 patients converted to cancer during the follow-up period, it is necessary to keep all AIN 3 under close surveillance.
