Co-witnessing refers to the relationship between an optical sight and the iron sights of your firearm. When the optical sight’s red dot aligns with the iron sights, the two work together as co-witness sights.

If you have flip-up iron sights – go with absolute cowitness. If you have fixed iron sights – we recommend lower 1/3 cowitness. This will give you an uncluttered view of the red dot, but you can still drop your line of sight to use the iron sights if needed.

What does lower 1/3 Co witness mean?

With a lower 1/3 co-witness, you see the bottom third of your iron sights through the optic. BONUS: Shoot better. When looking through the optic, the red dot will appear over the front sight. What is the Close Combat Optic ( CCO ) M68?

To recap our discussion from last week, the close combat optic (CCO), M68 is a non-telescopic (unmagnified) reflex sight that is designed for the “eyes-open” method of sighting. It is the sighting system for the M4/M16 family of weapons with the highest population across the United States Army.

Where is the best place to place the M68 CCO?

Accounting for this is important when engaging targets at distance. M68 CCO should be placed on the rail where the best field of view is achieved. The farther away the M68 is mounted from the Paratrooper’s eyes, the more the Paratrooper’s Peripheral vision comes to play.

What kind of aiming point does a CCO have?

The CCO provides a red-dot aiming point using a 2 or 4 Minute Of Angle (MOA) diameter reticle, depending on the variant. The red dot aiming point follows the horizontal and vertical movement of the firer’s eye, allowing the firer to remain fixed on the target. No centering or focusing on the front sight post is required.

Is the Aimpoint pro the same as the CompM2?

The PRO has pretty much an identical look of the CompM2, with some improved optics and battery life, without some of the deep water submergibility that is not needed, unless you are a Navy Seal.
