What do fuel lines connect to?

What do fuel lines connect to?

The components of the fuel system are connected by fuel and vapour lines and hoses. These allow supplying fuel to the carburettor, to return excess fuel to the tank, and to carry fuel vapour. Fuel lines must be routed so as to remain as cool as possible.

Is the fuel line part of the engine?

The gas first enters the fuel pump. There are hard metal fuel lines in most vehicles that run the fuel from the tank towards the engine. They are run along parts of the vehicle where they will not be too exposed to the elements and will not get too hot from the exhaust or other components.

Why do I need a tight fuel line?

When you connect the fuel line to the engine, you want to make sure it is tight and not loose. Being loose will give an air leak which is a place to cause problems. A lot of times when there is an air leak in the fuel lines, the engine will lose prime after sitting for a little while. Then you have to prime up the system again before running!

Where do I connect the fuel line that goes from the?

Follow the fuel line from the on/off/res tap towards the carb. This is your “supply fuel to the carb” pipe. It’s likely to be the one on your photo that comes in from the bottom-left, as that goes into the fuel bowl at the bottom of the carb.

How does a 2 stroke engine fuel line work?

“Local primer” carburetor designs look like the carburetor pictured below. For this 2-stroke engine carburetor design, the primer bulb is built on top of the assembly. The bulb pulls fuel through the filtered fuel line and into the carburetor and then it also pushes it out of the carburetor and out the unfiltered return line.

How big of fuel line do I Need?

The general rule of thumb still stands regardless of what manufacturer engine you have! Whether it be Honda, Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Nissan, or Johnson/Evinrude. Any engine that is above the 115 HP requires you to use 3/8″ fuel line! The basic functionality of a combustion engine and the fuel demand for the horsepower is the same!

Is it OK to use a fuel line hose?

Standard rubber vacuum or heater hose should never be used in fuel applications. The hose will deteriorate from the inside out and can plug fuel filters and carburetors with rubber debris, long before it springs an external leak. Comments (129) Notify me of followup comments via e-mail

Can a fuel line be used for coolant?

Fuel line is a petroleum-resistant nitrile tube with a covering that resists weathering, ozone and heat and can be used for ethanol-laced fuels and diesel fuel. It should, however, not be used on coolant systems, oil systems or fuel-injection systems that produce pressures higher than 50 psi.

How are fuel lines attached to a carburetor?

Attach the incoming line on the primer assembly to one of the ports on the carburetor and attach a third fuel line to the other carburetor fuel line port. Submerge the ends of both fuel lines in some 2-cycle fuel and test the line configuration by depressing the primer bulb.
