2007 Silverado 4.3 V6 -39,000 miles…no engine or tranny mods. No exhaust. I do have a K&N air filter that I just cleaned. I don’t think I have that MAF sensor on my intake like the more expensive trucks do. My problem seems to be a lack of power, like it just doesn’t want to go (V6 jokes aside).

Thinking it maybe clogged cat or cats, but I checked my fuel pressure today and with key on and engine off it read 50 Psi, then running it drops down to about 47psi,hopefully it’s not the pump or bad check valve on the pump,hopefully clogged filter being that I replaced the pump and filter about a month ago, running out of ideas

If your not using delco plugs in this motor that can be a big contributor to your problem. GM vortec engines hate anything but vortec plugs and will do all kinds of weird things. And yes a clogged converter could cause this sort of thing to happen. Are the O2 codes upstream or downstream?

Underdog, I don’t know the 1997 5.7, but 1000rpm sounds like a high idle, not where it should “bottom out”. A V8 should idle at 500rpm. GoNDown, did you recently disconnect your battery? After I left mine dead in the yard for a while and didn’t charge it, when I started it up it ran like you describe for a few days and then it was fine.

Cleaned the throttle body and went to put it back on and start it with out the intake attached to the throttle body. It idled funny so I shut it off.

Did have one cracked vacume line from the throttle body to the purge solenoid, also replaced. Seems to have plenty of vacume through out the system. Removed and inspected the egr valve, no excessive carbon build up and appears to be working properly, good vacume going into the solenoid, replaced the solenoid just for good measure.
