RunDisney has announced the cancellation of two in-person race events: 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and 2021 Disney Princess Half Marathon. Virtual events will be held in their place, similar to what has been offered for the 2020 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.

Typically there will be 8 corrals, represented by letters. Runners will be separated into 7 of the corrals, the 1st corral is for runners competing for the top finishes and wheelchair racers. The remaining corrals are for the rest of us runners.

The Walt Disney World Marathon runs through all four Walt Disney World parks and can take some runners 6 to 7 hours to finish. With a 5:30-6:00AM start time that means runners will still be in the parks up until 1:00-2:00PM. runDisney uses bright yellow cones in the parks to signify where the course is.
Is Disney World crowded on Martin Luther King Day?
At the end of the month is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this Monday holiday will bring increased crowds Friday through Tuesday (but mostly Saturday through Monday). These crowds can get quite significant, so in general we advise avoiding this weekend if you can.
Can you walk the Disney marathon?
Yes, walkers are welcome in a runDisney event. Just be sure to maintain the minimum-pacing requirement for the race you’re participating in when walking. If you fall short, no worries!
What is the route for the Disney Marathon?
The Disney Princess Half Marathon course takes runners on an out-and-back course through Florida’s Walt Disney World Resort, starting near the Spaceship Earth ride at Epcot Center and then continuing all the way up into the Magic Kingdom, where runners will see Cinderella’s Castle as they run through Tomorrowland.
