On one of the studs there is supposed to be a red/black stripe wire. That supplies power directly to the #4 pin on the plug. If there is power at the stud where that wire is attached, but none at the plug, there is a break in that circuit. Make sure there is no corrosion at the stud and it is firmly connected.

Turned out that upon closer inspection the 40A fuse for Stud#1 was blown. It looked fine from the top but when I pulled it out it was no good. If it is hooked up and did blow a fuse it would be one of the square ones furthest inboard that protects the #1 post. Your slide must have overloaded the fuse. Mine is a 40 amp if I remember correctly.

On my trucks the trailer light fuses are inside the truck in the fuse panel, which is on the driver side of the dash only accessible when the door is open.

The dealer tried other trucks – The 2014 did not show the error but all 2015 showed the same error. The third axle is outside their safety parameters according to the engineers at GMC. The truck shows this error repeatedly while traveling. They told us there is not a fix and they close our official complaint. 1 year later… 2 weeks later…
